A Bit More on My Cyberspace Activities

Just for the knowledge of my friends in this Group, being retired and nothing to do, my spare time activities are mostly starting the 'puter and browsing the internet.

I have said goodbye to golf more than 15 years ago, finding it too time taxing, although it was good walking exercise. Ended my handicap the way I started.. at 24. Ha.

My current internet and cyberspace activities chiefly centers around my website www.pahang-delights.com and after more than 2 years (started 31 August 2005) have still to add lots more pages. I do a little at a time.

Anyway that website is now self-financing and more. The Adsense I inserted has now produced monthly cheques from Google, and has paid for the annual web-hosting, with some extra to spend as I like.

Just for your info, currently (October 07) I have about 400 - 500 unique visitors to my site with daily page-views of more than 1,000 pages. And the best thing is that every month the traffic grows. I hope with the website, I have helped to make Pahang known to the world. Infact internet visitors from more than 80 countries visit my website each month.

Besides the main web-site, I also do a blog at www.pahang-delights.blogspot.com where I put my everyday thoughts, experience and other "nonsense" just to while away the time. It also has little traffic but useful to support the main website.

I also have a squidoo with that same name - pahang-delights. If you are wondering why I use the same name all over, well, it's all about getting traffic to my main website.

On internet forums, I participate in the travel forum - Aardvark travel.net - again to answer questions if any on travels to Pahang and Malaysia, where I answer with the little knowledge that I have.

And I also participate in Site Build It! (my webhost) forums to ask and also answer questions on website building, etc.

There are other sites and forums that I browse and join in the discussions once in a while, but not consistently.

Of course this InterestGroupPahang (IGP) forum is one place where I like to participate actively. Just the passion to make Pahang a better place for our future generations.

I am delighted to know that "retired citizens" have gone into ICT in a positive way. Doing what you like and making money along the way is great.

Thanks, Lias. With adsense you need to have a lot of traffic, and that takes time. My first Adsense cheque came only after six months, then four months, three months, twice for two months and then only monthly. Not sure that will stay, though, 'cos the clicks are not so straightforward. But Alhamdulillah.

Anyway, you have plenty of valuable knowledge and experience. I always look forward to your views and comments on the various issues in IGP. They are not 2 sen worth, rather they really make considerable sense to me. And I'm sure the younger members of IGP benefit from your views and writings.

Fantastic! I am also retired but my Adsense still does not make sen. I keep myself busy, doing some odd jobs here and there, that is how I earn my living (being non-pensionable), and I travel KL/Kuantan route every 2 weeks to collect rent (doing a bit of consultancy jobs). Other than that I am as free as a bird; that is why I spend quite a bit of my time talking on the Net. I have a few eGroups which I look at now and then and give my 2 sen worth of views (not opinion really) whenever I can. Please bear with me.
